Cairn - Refund and Cancellation Policy
Last updated 19 October 2026
This policy explains how to cancel a subscription and our position on refunds. It is part of the agreement between you and TwentyTwoStudios, an individual trading as TwentyTwoStudios ("we", "us"), alongside the Terms of Service and the End User Licence Agreement (EULA). Terms used here, such as "perpetual licence", "subscription" and "estate slot", have the meaning given to them in the EULA.
1.Purchases are final
1.1A perpetual licence and an add-on estate slot are one-time purchases and are not refundable, including where an estate slot has not yet been given to an estate.
1.2This does not affect any right you have under the Consumer Protection Act, 2002 (Ontario), or under any other consumer protection law that applies to you and cannot be excluded by agreement — see clause 4.
1.3It also does not affect your rights if Cairn does not work as we describe it. A "no refunds" policy covers changing your mind, not a defective product — contact us under clause 5 if something is genuinely broken.
2.Subscription cancellation
2.1You can cancel a subscription at any time from your account on our website. Cancelling stops future payments; it does not refund any part of the period you have already paid for. Your subscription, and Cairn's editing, stay active until the end of that period.
2.2As the EULA explains (clause 2.5), a cancellation takes effect the next time Cairn checks in with the licence service, which can be up to the length of your offline period after you cancel. Your estate data stays readable throughout, and read-only is the only thing that changes.
3.Estate slots
3.1Once an estate slot — whether the one included with a perpetual licence or a purchased add-on — has been given to an estate, including by using it to reopen a previously locked estate, that is permanent under EULA clause 2.3. There is no unassign, and clause 1.1 means there is no refund for it either. Buying or using a slot is the point at which you should be certain which estate it is for.
4.Your statutory cancellation right
4.1Ontario's Consumer Protection Act, 2002 gives you a right to cancel an "internet agreement" in specific circumstances — broadly, where we have not disclosed required information before you paid, or did not give you a clear opportunity to review and confirm your order first. This is the one circumstance in which clause 1.1 does not apply, and nothing in this agreement excludes it.
4.2We do not expect this to arise in ordinary use: our checkout discloses this policy, the price, and our identity before you pay, and asks you to confirm your order. If you believe it has not been met, contact us under clause 5.
5.How to contact us
5.1Email us at ghenderson8181@gmail.com with your account email and what you are asking about. We may ask you to confirm details to verify the account is yours.
5.2We aim to respond within 5 business days.
6.Chargebacks
6.1Please contact us before asking your bank or card provider to reverse a payment. We may suspend the licence tied to a disputed payment while it is investigated, and reinstate it once the dispute is resolved in your favour.
7.Governing law
7.1This policy is governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.
8.Contact
8.1You can contact TwentyTwoStudios by email at ghenderson8181@gmail.com, or through our website at https://hliwudnew.github.io/.
